Nowadays, tourism in Thailand has expanded to become the main industry that generates income for the country. Multi-destination tourism trips (MTTs) are a form of single-destination tourism trips where more than one province is visited. The researchers therefore conducted a feasibility study on tourism in the provinces adjacent to Phrae province, namely Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Sukhothai, and Uttaradit, in order to study the behavior of needs that affect the decision to travel together from all 5 provinces by random sampling. Convenience surveys from Thai tourists traveling in Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Sukhothai and Uttaradit provinces were collected from a total of 400 questionnaires. The results show that most of the respondents travel for leisure or tourism with the trip duration of 3 days. The most common form of the travel is travel with family or relatives. Most of them search for tourism information from the internet and have their own transportation. For factors affecting tourists’ intention to travel to Phrae province, it was found that the abundance of natural attractions is the key factor that attracts tourists, followed by culture, travel safety, convenience for communication and image of tourist attraction.
Regarding the intention to travel to Phrae province in the next five years, 54.0% had no intention to travel, 23.5% intend to travel to Phrae province as a single-destination trip and 22.5% intend to travel to Phrae as a multi-destination trip. For factors that influence tourists’ intention, the results show that tourists who have visited Phrae province before and like cultural attractions are most likely to visit Phrae as a multi-destination trip.
